학창시절 이야기를 하다가 왕따 이야기가 나왔는데 적절한 영어가 생각이 나질 않아서 일본어인 이지메를 이야기하면서 설명을 했죠.
그랬더니 그에 상응하는 영어가 있다고 하더군요.
outcast라네요. He was in outcast.
An outcast is someone who is not accepted by a group of people or by society.

학교에서 벌받는 이야기를 하다가 detention이라는 단어가 나왔습니다.
원래는 구금하다라는 뜻인데요.
학교에서 선생님이 학생을 나머지 공부시키거나 점심시간에 나가 놀지 말고 교실에서 공부하라고 벌 주는 것을 detection이라고 한답니다.
Detention is when someone is arrested or put into prison, especially for political reasons.
Detention is a punishment for naughty schoolchildren, who are made to stay at school after the other children have gone home.
